@mojo
what's tequip?
can you do this bit? if you find people hacking off trees, ba hacking off lots and lots of branches in the name of trimming them, can you get in touch with me? if this is being done without permission from the forest authorities, you can complain to the forest dept, or alternatively again, get in touch with me. I say this cause I've gotten one prior experience of stopping this, and got to know some forest people.

@hack: Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (teqip) is a World Bank project where they tell institutions in 3rd world and developing countries to teach something specific -- that which will be of use to the 1st world countries. India has very obligingly joined this bandwagon and the TEQIP building (for which JU is going head over heals in renovating itself) has come up just inside gate number 3 opposite HL Roy Memorial Auditorium.

dekho, JU te shobshomoyei gacch trim korar naame puro gachh kete fele. This has been going on since I was in UG1. Ar mojor kacche tomar mobile number nei.

or, doyeeta, mail me, i shall let romila know.

ar janish, romila, all trimmers in campus always work with the express permission of the registrar, as it were. all the trimming is supposed to be for marvellous reasons. like tequip, as dibbo points out. actually, i was thinking of printing out these articles, putting them up in places in campus, and telling people whom to call etc if they found trimming in campus again. or out of campus, for that matter. dibbo, cd we do that?

yes, we can already do that. and there's no point in seeing no one will read the notices. or even if they do no one will bother spending money and calling up or that the notices will be taken off after a few days because all of this will happen but still we must try. tai tomar shomoy thakle print-out bar kore lagiye dao ba print-out bar kore amaye diye jeyo ar bole dio kothaye kothaye lagate hobe.

ok. will do. but as you said, its being done with the permission of authorities...so...even if people do bother to call i don't think much can be done...
